Successful kickoff for MUNIMAR: On April 14, 2026, stakeholders from government, science, and industry came together in Kiel to mark the official start of future collaboration on the issue of munitions in the marine environment in Schleswig-Holstein.
The workshop brought together experts from MEKUN, GEOMAR, and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Schleswig-Holstein, alongside a broad range of stakeholders. It focused on interdisciplinary exchange, pooling expertise, and developing concrete solution approaches. Building on insights from pilot recovery operations, particularly in the Bay of Lübeck, participants discussed key challenges and outlined initial steps toward large-scale clearance.
MUNIMAR thus sends a strong signal for enhanced, practice-oriented collaboration and the joint development of a roadmap for the years ahead. We would like to thank all participants for joining and actively contributing to the success of the workshop.
