Science and Shopping Meet in Kiel: Experts Discuss Sea-Dumped Munitions
Kiel, April 5, 2025 – Science and shopping converged on Holtenauer Street as a unique event took place, shedding light on the issue of munitions discarded in the sea. Dr. Samar Ensenbach and Marcus Krüger from GEOMAR, Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research, presented their research on the environmental impact of submerged munitions and the efforts to mitigate this threat.
The event, part of the Science & Shopping series, offered attendees two sessions, at 11:00 and 14:00, at Husens providing an in-depth look at the history and ongoing challenges related to sea-dumped munitions. Researchers also highlighted MUNIMAR's role in addressing these environmental concerns.
